Numerous behavioral theories and models include "environment" as a construct. For example, social cognitive theory posits that behavior is influenced by individual factors in combination with the social and physical environment (Bandura, 1986). I can see that, although integral theories might form the foundation of our understanding of environmental psychology, we might have to approach specific problems and research situations through some of the more simplistic theories in order to keep the problems we’re addressing at a manageable scale.
